Oh man, this was a hard one for me. It should have been my book of the summer. I mean, within the first chapter, the main character is on the NE Regional Amtrak, flying by all my favorite stomping grounds. The Rhode Island setting, the familiarity of this story’s backdrop, had me very excited. But, the rest… I don’t know how to explain it. I might have been overly distracted this past week, and so timing could have been off for this read. Or maybe there were just too many characters to keep track of. Or maybe the love story just didn’t hit right for me. Or maybe I just hated every character 🤣 except the two main ones, which is likely what the author wanted. Regardless, this one wasn’t for me, but it could be for you!
This had me thinking though about the power of book marketing. Within the first week of publish date, I saw this book EVERYWHERE. It was a Book of the Month pick. All the book clubs were reading it. Book influencers were gushing about this 5-star read. And so when I didn’t share the same sentiment, it made me realize that reading is truly so subjective.
