Sybil, the fierce woman that you are.
Snarky. Straight to the point. Whip-smart. Funny. This book was beautiful and deeply moving, and I’m so glad I read it.
And the format, the letters, what an incredible way to tell a story. I can’t remember the last time I experienced anything quite like it on the page. It makes me want to lean into the “2026 analog year” trend: order some stationery and try my own hand at correspondence.
It also reminded me of a dear friend who used to send dozens of letters. Sometimes a long birthday note, other times a simple “thinking of you,” tucked in with a torn-off page from a 365-day photo calendar. Seeing that envelope in my mailbox was always a small joy.
The Correspondent was an unforgettable reading journey. Highly recommend adding this to your TBR.
